Strengthening Collaboration on Soil Health and Agricultural Innovation
On 29th April 2026, Global Agricultural Extension and Rural Services (GAERS) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department of Soil Science and Land Resources Management, Faculty of Agriculture, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS).
This partnership marks an important step in strengthening collaboration between academic research and field-based agricultural implementation.
Purpose of the Partnership
The MoU is designed to support joint efforts in:
- Advancing soil health research and innovation
- Supporting student-led field research and practical learning
- Enhancing knowledge exchange between academia and farmers
- Strengthening capacity building for extension agents and farmers
- Promoting evidence-based agricultural practices
What This Means for GAERS
Through this collaboration, the GAERS Demonstration Farm will serve as a practical learning and research site where students and researchers can conduct field trials, while farmers benefit from insights grounded in scientific research.
The partnership also opens pathways for:
- Joint training and field activities
- Soil testing and technical support
- Student placements and supervised research
- Co-development of solutions adapted to local conditions
